What is depression?



Depression is not the ordinary sadness that we normally go through. It is much more than just sadness. A person who is depressed feels emptiness and hopelessness in his/her life. They are not interested in anything and tend to isolate themselves. Depression may occur to anyone, ranging from children, adult, men and women.

Symptoms of Depression

- Feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness

- Persistent feeling of sadness and emptiness

- Insomnia- has problem sleeping or oversleeping

- Fatigue- feels tired and low energy level

- Restless- find it hard to concentrate and feel irritate easily

- Aches- Muscles pain, digestive problem, headache, etc

- Appetite changes- may experience significant appetite and weight changes

- Loss of interest in activities- They are not interested in anything such as hobby, work and social activities

- For severe cases, they may have thought of death or suicide

If you notice that you have several of the symptoms, you may be suffering from depression. Please talk to your family members or friends and seek professional help.
