Steam or boil food to save calories and retain flavor.

Brooling, poaching and steaming require little or no added oil. These methods do not add extra calories to a meal, and they can actually reduce the calories in many traditional recipes.

When you stem vegetable, for example it retain their flavor and nutrients rather than losing them in the cooking water. In pot steamers are inexpensive. Vertical roasters ensure that chicken and turkeys do not cook while setting in their own fat.

And dont't forget to look for the words "broiled" and "steamed" on menus when dining out. Pretty soon, your plate will tell you to stick with the essence of wonderful, fresh food.
